This is What Hope Looks Like

And most of all, it looks like this:

His name is Thomas (he’s the one with the white t-shirt thrown over his shoulder), but he often answers to T-Dog. He’s my 16-year-old cousin who wears a Nike hat with the words “LIVESTRONG” imprinted on it. And that is what he does every day: He lives strong. His courage and indomitable spirit seem to have a prismatic effect on everyone around him. He’s fun and preternaturally mature and wise, but he’s also just a really cool teenager. I love Thomas. I love the remarkable family we both belong to, and I’m indebted to all the friends and relatives who helped Team T-Dog raise over $2,800 in the fight against cancer. Above all, I love that I had the chance to see up close and personal just what hope looks like.
