Here are a few new Internet hangouts I’ll be frequenting (especially the bon bon one):

  • Faith & Family Live: Coined the daily blog for Catholic living, the website covers the homefront – from faith to homemaking tips. Plus, it features some great mom voices, including Danielle Bean, Rebecca Teti, Rachel Balducci, Lisa Hendey, and Arwen Mosher.
  • In God’s Image: Here Cathy Adamkiewicz explores the intersection of faith and fitness. She opens the blog with a telling post called “Does this Blog Make Me Look Fat?”.
  • NFP and More: Ever since I wrote that infamous article about nursing discreetly in Mass, I’ve had a lot of people ask me to explain ecological breastfeeding. I’m going to let NFP and More do it for me .
  • Oreo Bon Bons: Just in case this or any other blog or even your jeans are not making you feel fat, or if you’re feeling hormonally challenged like I am (this is what an off-again-and-on-again nursing baby can do to you), I thought I’d share this melt-in-your-mouth, cheaper-than-therapy recipe.

Oreo bonbons? Are you kidding me?

    Thanks for the mention, Kate.

I’ll try to keep the blog going, in between bonbons, that is.

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.

“She could never be a saint, but she thought she could be a martyr if they killed her quick.”

―Flannery O'Connor
