Mixed Marriage Series

Stay tuned…

As I previously mentioned, I do have plans to write more on this topic and actually have been gleaning wisdom from some other couples in mixed marriages. If you belong to this group and have any tips for a healthy and happy mixed marriage, please drop me a line at kmwicker [at] gmail [dot] com. Be sure to let me know if you prefer to remain anonymous or if you want me to include your name and/or a link to your blog (people without blogs, etc. are, of course, more than welcome to comment).

    Kate,
Could you please define what you mean by mixed marriage?

Is it Catholic married to non-Catholic

    Catholic married to nonChristian/athiest

or am I waaay off base and you’re talking interracial couples?

Hi, Milehimama. In my series, I am referring to a mixed marriage in terms of Catholics v. non-Catholics (including non-Christians/atheists). The term “mixed marriage” actually originated in the Catholic Church, although I believe it’s come to mean other things (such as an interracial marriage).

    God bless!

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
