The Corn Maze and the Pumpkin Patch

It’s become an annual tradition to head to Uncle Shuck’s to wander through the corn maze, to find the perfect pumpkin, to savor October in Georgia, and to spend time with family.

Now I’m going to bore you with some pictures from our Saturday fun:

Our little cowgirl

Madeline and some of my cousins who recently moved to Georgia from up North

A rare family shot (one of these days I’m going to look at my obnoxiously big sunglasses and wonder what I was thinking, but right now they still make me look chic…I think)

Madeline posing with a pumpkin

Baby Rae finds a pumpkin just her size

A big family photo taken at a Japanese steakhouse where we ate after working up an appetite in the corn maze

We are so blessed to live close to family!!!

How fun! It’s a little tradition for us too! We’ve done Uncle Shucks the past 2 years, but this year we did Washington Farms because Riley was still free there.:)

You have the cutest family ever. :)

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
