During my most recent confession, I lamented that I’ve already goofed up on some of my Lenten resolutions. The priest, God bless him, proceeded to remind me that Lent isn’t so much about what we give up but what we take on. Then he pointed to my burgeoning belly and said, “You’ve taken on new life, and that’s enough to make God very happy.”
