Get Your Vote On!

Voting has officially begun for the 2009 Catholic New Media Awards. Now I know I’m a small fish in the blogging pond; however, if you’re a fan of my ramblings, please consider registering and casting your vote in support of my little corner of cyberspace.

I was extremely humbled to discover that this blog (which is listed on the ballot as Momopoly, not Kate Wicker) has been nominated in the following categories:

Best Blog by a Woman
Best Written Blog
Funniest Blog
Most Spiritual Blog
People’s Choice Blog
Most Entertaining Blog

Thanks for your support and for not rolling your eyes (too much) over this shameless self-promotion! A mom’s gotta dream, right?

    Rock on!

As a fellow nominee in the podcast category, I wince at the self-promotion side of it too — but let's say this– these blogs (and podcasts) are promoting the cause of Christ, the cause of committed marriages and the joys and foibles of family life (but mostly the abundant blessings that children are)! That's worth cheering for!

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.

“She could never be a saint, but she thought she could be a martyr if they killed her quick.”
