Think We Take Nursing Around Here Seriously?

Concerned Preschooler, after seeing debris in the middle of a major road near our home: Mommy, can’t you go get it?

Me: No, honey. I might get hit by a car.

Preschooler: Oh, and then you couldn’t nurse.

BRILLIANT!!! That is awesome and hysterical, and TRUE!

I say that because with our current baby, I exclusively nursed (now that she's a year we're still nursing but getting exposed to more now) where as with #1, I pumped and bottle fed. My mom has been more concerned this time around with babysitting, etc since Baby hates bottles. My mom would say as I left…"please be careful, if anything happens to you this baby is in trouble!" LOL!

bahahaha, could have been spoken at our house. Other night when we were at a wedding older daughter told her grammy "Grammy you might have to give her a boob, I cant cause i am not a mom" oh, these kids!

Sheesh! This wisdom is truly out of the mouths of babes!

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
