Among Women Podcast Interview: "Just" A Mom and Proud of It

Please tune into Pat Gohn’s Among Women Podcast today to hear Pat and me chat about one of my favorite topics: Why being “just” a mom is more than enough.

Pat invited me to be a guest on her podcast after I wrote about how I was struggling with listening to God’s call to focus on being a wife and mother in a post entitled “Enough is Enough.” We had a wonderful conversation about the vocation of motherhood, its joys and struggles, finding contentment in your role as mom and wife, and how it’s sometimes tough to meet our own and society’s real or imagined expectations as moms today.

You can listen to the full podcast here. Podcast #15 also features a segment on Blessed Mother Teresa.

Oh, and Pat’s podcast is deserving of some kudos after being a top five finalist in several of the Catholic New Media Awards podcast categories, including Best Podcast by a Woman and Best New Podcast. Congratulations, Pat!

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
