(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: The M.E. Edition

Baby blues? What do you think? Big sisters’ eyes were already big and brown by 8 months.

We had a fun photo shoot this weekend.

I only wish my subject wasn’t so glum.

Aw, sweet! They look definitively blue to me. Mikko's are this really cool dark gray that I was monitoring obsessively for signs that they were turning brown! :) But they're still gray with a little green at 2.5. One reason I was so wary of trusting them was that Sam's eyes didn't turn brown, or so his mother says, until he was over a year and a half old. I'd have liked brown, too, but the waiting was all too much suspense for me! :) Mine are a dark green, and I thought Mikko's might be my color; I think they are kind of trending that way, in fact.

I can't get enough of that smile! Do you just sit around and stare at her all day?

I think they're gonna stay blue! And of course, I am an expert, having 4 blue-eyed babies myself ;)

Look blue to me. But we only have blue eyes around here, no chance of brown at all, so I wouldn't know what they look like turning brown. Great pictures, she is getting so big!

My oldest daughter's eyes were blue until she was 2, then they turned hazel just like her dad's. I remember being surprised one day to realize that they were no longer blue!

    She sure is a cutie!

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
