Announcing the Faith & Family Magazine Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to Jennifer Groves, the winner of my recent Faith & Family magazine subscription giveaway! I will be submitting a gift subscription for you in the coming days. And for the rest of you, it’s not too late to add a mag subscription to your gift wish list.

A side note: I’m such a nerd guys because after using the True Random Number Service to determine my lucky winner, I spent 15 minutes reading the intro to randomness. Fascinating stuff. Though I’m not sure I agree with this statement: “Behaving randomly is surprisingly difficult for humans.” By “humans,” they must not mean toddlers because I’ll tell you, my 2-year-old’s behavior is extremely random. Her moods are more unpredictable than the fashion choices of the Olsen twins, and her once-blissful sleep patterns have gone out the window. Randomness rules our home, and the sooner the control freak within accepts this, the happier we’ll all be.

Now enough random rambling from me for now.

Yippee!! That's me!! :) Thanks Kate!

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
