I feel weightless…

…as if I woke up, floating in a really good dream.

Somebody pinch me, please.

Is this for real?

Yup. That’s the cover of my first book,Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body, which is available for pre-order on Amazon.

It was my husband who discovered the book was already on Amazon. I got an email from him earlier this week with the link and the words “pretty cool” next to it. I opened the link, assuming I’d discover some silly man-toy he might want as a gift for Father’s Day or for his summer birthday. But there it was: A real link for my real book.

Its official publication date is August 1st – just a few weeks before my due date with baby number 4. Crazy, happy times. A new baby and a new book. How blessed am I??!!!?

Stay tuned for further shameless promotions! :-)

Holy, holy, holy cow. Kate — This is so tremendously, awesomely cool. You must (and should) be over the moon with excitement, and your mom and dad (and that handsome husband of yours) bursting with pride. As others have said, the cover design is lovely and inviting. So look forward to reading it. Already placed my Amazon.com order! (See you in Chicago??) xxx

Hi Kate- congratulations! The cover looks awesome, and the colour… what an eyecatcher. Btw, we received the spring issue of the F&F magazine two days ago (it takes a longer time until we get it here in Germany ;-)… and saw how many articles you have written this time. Great done- we liked them a lot! Bod bless, Nicole

    Hi Kate,
You don’t know me, but I actually designed this cover for your book. I’ve been so very excited to see it printed. Have loved looking over your blog and am grateful for the topics you are coving in your book. Glad I could dress it up for you. :) Congrats on your success! And thanks for writing an inspiring book to design for.

Kate, I am so proud of you. What an accomplishment!
I look forward to reading this and then proudly placing it on my bookshelf, ready to be lent out to friends and family as I tell them about this wonderful book written by this wonderful woman I “know”…
I sincerely mean that (even the creepy part about “knowing” you – meaning I wasn’t being sarcastic at all).
I think you are doing SO MUCH GOOD. I appreciate it.
    Bonnie
PS – the book cover looks fabulous!

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
