One Big, Happy Family

Welcome to the Body of Christ, Thomas Kemp!

(I did not make that cake. It was almost too pretty to eat!)

My sweet boy, my heart, may your baptism be the beginning of a beautiful journey of faith. A glorious hope was written on your heart today; the mystery of Christ, a precious gift and a mark of faith was bestowed upon you. As you grow, I pray you’ll catch glimpses of God’s love, His understanding, His wisdom, and God’s unwavering faith in you and in all that you have to offer the world. I pray, too, that I can be the kind of mother who not only brings you to church and raises you up in the faith, but someone who brings you to Christ by being more like Christ. When you gaze into my eyes, may you see something of Jesus in me. When I speak, may you hear the tone of His voice. When I give you all my love, may you know that God loved you first.

I love you, Thomas. It was wonderful to witness you join God’s big, happy family.

Congratulations to you and your whole family! What a beautiful love letter you have written here. I’m sure he will treasure it always. I wish I had your gift for words. That cake is gorgeous… reminds me of a Tiffany hatbox. Although my daughter was curious as to how you’d cut it with the bow on top. And your little man does have awesome hair!

P.S. I posted the story behind Cupcake’s gown.

Baptism Quotes – Baptism is after conversion and not a saving ordinance, however an external indication of an inward work. Baptism is not elective for the believer, but a command of our Lord to be followed. Just before Jesus came back to paradise, He instructed His supporters to preach the gospel to all individuals and to baptize christians. Baptism is a sign to everyone watching that he or she has accepted Jesus as Savior and which he/she plans to live to please Him and obey Jesus. Everyone who is sorry for their sins, repents, and believes in Christ as Savior ought to be baptized. There isn’t any age limit for baptism. Comprehends what baptism signifies and when a person is stored, they ought to be baptized. As quoted from the Holy Bible.

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
