7 Quick Takes (Vol. 3)

#1 Meet Lint, my future son-in-law. Preschooler, as she’s stripping for bath time: First, I have to take my socks off. Then I have to pick my toe lint. I love my toe lint. I wish I could marry it. #2 Lest you think I’m a total junk food fascist with my kids based onRead the whole post >>

To My Feed Subscribers

I apologize for the administrative post, but for some reason the YouTube video included in the “Imagine the Potential” post does not show up in your email feed. You’ll have to actually visit my blog to view it. I am a big geek, but not a computer one so if anyone out there knows whyRead the whole post >>

Imagine the Potential

Sure, this one has made the rounds this week. But given the significance of today, it’s worth sharing it again.

7 Quick Takes (Vol. 2)

I’m baaaaccckkk! I had so much fun participating in Jen’s 7 Quick Takes last week that I’ve decided to throw some more random thoughts out there. #1 I visit Testosterhome on a fairly regular basis even though we have far more X chromosomes floating around our household. In fact, on Christmas we discovered after openingRead the whole post >>

My Two Cents on Discipline

I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s comments after this guest post, and I’ve been inspired to put in my two cents on discipline. As a caveat, I’m no expert. Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
