Catholic Carnival 168 is Up and Running!

The well-designed and well-written A Catholic Mom Climbing the Pillars is the gracious host of this week’s Catholic Carnival. She not only sprinkles photos of our great “German Shepherd” in honor of the Pope’s visit to the U.S. throughout the Carnival, but she also offers great “teasers” and commentary for a wealth of blog postsRead the whole post >>

Catholic Carnival 162: The Quiet Carnival

This week, silence speaks over at Just Another Day of Catholic Pondering . As Sarah, the host of yet another seamless Carnival, points out: “In this collection of posts, you’re going to find quiet, one way or another. You’ll find it in a rather ironic way, through the words of a Catholic blogger. Those words,Read the whole post >>

Catholic Carnival 157: Giving Up, Giving In, Giving Back

Just Another Day of Catholic Pondering once again is the gracious host of this week’s Carnival. And while its compiler/host admits to keeping it “simple,” it’s no less deserving of your attention. In fact, simplicity might be something we all should aim to embrace during this spartan season.

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
