Some Others’ Post-Election Thoughts

I’m still recovering from a pesky stomach bug and just can’t seem to string any coherent thoughts together after last night’s election results. What I will say is whether you’re happy with the results or not, Senator Obama is now our president and he deserves our respect and demands our prayers (as do all theRead the whole post >>

Hope

My husband called this evening when he was on his way to Grady Hospital to be on call. He was looking at a long night ahead of him, but there was no hint of self-pity or “man, this stinks working all day and then having to be up all night away from you guys.” Instead,Read the whole post >>

More on Palin

Whatever your political leanings or whether you’re ready to join the Palin fan club or not, there’s a candid discussion going on at Faith & Family Live! called Sarah Palin and the Politics of Motherhood. Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
