Why Moms Say Yes

This is why we say yes to pregnancy-induced nausea and chronic sleep deprivation. This is why we say yes to cutting up food into bite-sized chunks and scraping off high chair crud day after day. This is why we say yes to stretch marks. This is why we say yes to reading Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom! over and over. This is why we say yes to cleaning up spills, wiping noses and bottoms, and brushing tiny teeth. This is why we say yes to trading in “me time” for their time.

Children may hijack our sleep, our bodies, our free time, and sometimes even our brain cells. But they certainly hijack our hearts, too. And that is why we say yes to life.

    Absolutely!

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
