Fashionistas

I’m not sure what the fashion police would think of the getups my girls and their friends recently put together after raiding our dress-up box. I’m thinking their chosen attire – especially the Santa suit accessorized with an elephant schnoz – might fall under the “what not to wear” category.

(Then again, you never know. Have you seen what ends up on fashion runways? Aladdin-y jumpsuits? Um, no thanks. I think I’ll pass. I man a minivan, not a magic carpet.)

But no matter. Mod or not, seeing these little fashionistas strut their stuff and convulse into uncontrollable giggles was enough to make me want priority seating along the catwalk.

Hi dear Kate — blessings from your deacon fan in AZ…. I just got to this cute picture and post… and I wanted to let you know that when Dee & I get to babysit your kids (yes, long drive to bring them here I know)… we have a rolling set of plastic drawers filled with clothes bought at a resale shop. We laundered them and when young ones come to visit — they love taking the kit and kaboodle (sp?) into a room, closing the door and then making a grand appearance dressed as…. lots of fun. Blessings. dt

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
