Madeline received a camera for her birthday. She’s been clicking away ever since. We recently downloaded her first batch of photos. I loved what I saw. I love what she sees:
Herself, up close and personal
Baby brother’s smiles
Cool rocks
Creepy, crawly things
She took this one while heading home in our minivan. “I thought the sun looked pretty behind the church,” she told me when we came to this photograph. There’s something hopeful about this picture – the sunlight radiating from behind the shadows.
There’s also something dirty about it. It’s time to clean the van’s windows.
A good read (Ramona Quimby, Age 8 )
Birthday truffles
A sleepy dog
One dramatic mama
One perfect Mama
A birthday gift from a friend (the Crayola Crayon Maker)
A silly, little sister
Another silly sister with some crazy, post-braid hair (you’ll also notice that, at this point, something had gotten on the lens and is blurring some of Madeline’s photos)
It all makes for a beautiful, colorful life, no?

I love pictures kids take. Such a luxury that we can give them and an opportunity for us to see what they see.

Oh such fun. I adore seeing what comes out of the camera when my girls get behind the lens.

I’ve always loved the beautiful pictures you’ve posted on your blog! These ones through the eyes of your daughter are great! It’s one of God’s greatest blessings to be able to see the world through the eyes of a child, and this is certainly one of the ways this is possible and quite fun.
