Mirror Image

My 14-month-old loves to kiss her image staring back at her in my bedroom’s full-length mirror. I watched her the other day smiling and waving at herself and then leaning in for a wet kiss, and I found myself wondering if I’ve ever felt like kissing the reflection that stares back at me when IRead the whole post >>

Mommy For HireThis is my latest column over at Catholic Mom. If you’ve been a regular reader to my blog, you’ve probably seen a version of this essay. The gist is that I should not only fess up to being a full-time mom when people ask me, “What do you do?” but I should beRead the whole post >>

If you’re struggling with your body image or know someone who is, please consider reading my recent article on Catholic Exchange. Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
