Simple Mosaic Craft

Here’s another easy craft I came up with the other day. I cut squares of foam sheets into tiny squares. (Madeline helped cut some, too.) Then we briefly discussed mosaics, and I showed Madeline some pictures of the art form in a kids’ art book we have. I then asked what she would like toRead the whole post >>

Babies are Never Disappointments

Madeline wants a baby brother. She’s made it pretty clear. Not that she wouldn’t be happy with another little sister. I recently asked her if she’d be disappointed if we have another baby girl. To which my little pro-lifer responded, “I’d never be disappointed about a baby.”

Ten Commandments for Bloggers

What Does the Prayer Really Say recently posted an article from the Telegraph in the UK that shared ten commandments religious (and any blogger, in my opinion) should follow. Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
