Tea with Mary

We’ve started a new ritual around our house. After quiet time we gather around the kitchen table, pull out Madeline’s silver-plated tea set from GG (Great Grandmother Jean) and fill its teapot with tea. Why I Love Date Nights

• We get to go out to eat and leisurely explore delicious and varied gastronomy. On tonight’s menu was Greek food: salty cubes of feta, creamy hummus, olive tapenade, tasty falafel dipped in tzatziki sauce, and rich, sweet baklava for dessert. • We can talk about adult things and don’t have to spell things weRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
