Saintly Fun

One of the moms in my homeschool co-op shared this All Saints Day craft from another Catholic blogger. What a creative way to introduce your children to some important friends in Christ!

The Great "Rumpkin"

Some moms have a thing for baby toes. I, on the other hand, can’t get enough of baby and toddler tushes. There’s something so squeezable and well, cute, about those soft, round bottoms. Wish I could say the same thing about my bum’s softness… Well, for Halloween this year we decided to make the grandparentsRead the whole post >>

In Need of Mom Input for Faith & Family Article

Many of you Catholic women out there may be familiar with Faith & Family magazine, a wonderful, glossy publication that celebrates family life and our Catholic faith. If you’re not, think of it as a Catholic Woman’s Day. At any rate, I’m currently working on two articles for upcoming issues and I’d like to marbleRead the whole post >>

Need Mom Input for Babysitting Article

Calling all moms! Do you have any great tips for newbie parents on how to hire, instruct AND retain a quality babysitter? Worst Mommy Day Ever

Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
