Happy Birthday, Rachel Marie!

Happy Birthday to my Baby Rae, a lover of: Going “night-night.” Yes, you actually ask to go to sleep. I hit the mom jackpot with you. Showing off and saying words like “Japanese,” “guacamole,” and “porcupine.” You’re our little chatterbox. Anything your big sister Madeline loves or likes to do. I Want to Be Here

As a parent, I’ve never had to see the inside of an ER, but tonight I found myself longing to be there, holding my little one. I knew my daughter was safe in Dr. Daddy’s arms. I knew it didn’t make much sense for both of us to journey to the ER and to toteRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
