A Therapeutic Rant

I’m still working on organizing my photos and thoughts from my trip last week. Stay tuned…  I’m also still trying to catch up on laundry. One week of it piling up has left me buried beneath an overwhelming mound. (The kids love it – what fun to hide in all the dirty socks and underwear!)Read the whole post >>

Creating, Living, Breathing, Pausing

Where have I been? Why the silence? Why the sole blinking cursor that never turns into letters or words?  First, we were busy creating (hence, the blog post below). My hands all dirty with paint and pastel chalk dust steered clear of the pristine (sterile, lifeless) keyboard.  More recently, we found ourselves in rural MaineRead the whole post >>

Glimpses

I’ve had a few requests for more glimpses into our new nest and our new life (which is blessedly beginning to find a happy, good rhythm), so here goes (my flash went out for a few of the shots and I could not find our charger immediately, so forgive the grainy quality): This is myRead the whole post >>

If You’re Happy and You (Should) Know It

This is how I had everything played out in my head. While my husband was across the country attending a conference for his new job, I would nest. * For real this time! For those of you who subscribe to my RSS feed in a reader, this is the post you were supposed to read, but goofy, anal planner that I am inadvertently and prematurely published a version of this post when I was attempting to just schedule it. This morning we’ve gottenRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
