Your Baby is Just Fine and So Are You

Recently, I had the rare opportunity to go to the grocery store toting only the baby. She was a happy, wiggly little thing, and I quite enjoyed our visit as well as her many admirers. Typically, I’m in such a rush that I avoid onlookers. I’m not overtly rude, but I don’t stop to makeRead the whole post >>

My Two Cents on Discipline

I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s comments after this guest post, and I’ve been inspired to put in my two cents on discipline. As a caveat, I’m no expert. I have a degree in journalism for goodness’ sake, and I’ve only had a little more than four years of on-the-job-training. Still, I have my own ideas onRead the whole post >>

Ecological Breastfeeding Book Review

Over this past summer, I had the amazing privilege of personally corresponding with Sheila Kippley, a renowned breastfeeding and natural family planning advocate and co-founder of NFP International. Catholic Carnival #179: The latest edition of Catholic Carnival is posted at Building An Ark. It has a “Swimming Lesson” theme (it’s a very creative and well-done compilation) and is filled with some great stuff. Don’t miss it. New Name, Same Mission: You may have noticed that my blog header now reads “Momopoly.” I’d actuallyRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
