Global Prayer Challenge for Moms, July 18-24

Recently, Delphine Ang, a passionate Catholic mother in the Philippines, reached out to me about joining a global prayer challenge for moms. We had the opportunity to Zoom and chat about our own mothering journeys as well as our prayer lives.  Here we were – two different moms oceans apart with unique mothering challenges; yet, we discoveredRead the whole post >>

About that cliff hanger

Okay. So I never should have pulled the old cliff hanger trick in my last post. Honestly, I meant to follow up on that post long before now, but two trips in less than three weeks as well as a broken bone have left me running around more than usual all while toting around anRead the whole post >>

A mother’s prayer

As you watch your oldest daughter walk ahead of you, you start to think about how the older she gets, the more you start seeing pieces of yourself in her. Some of the pieces are smooth and beautiful like the way she still brings you flowers just as you bring her meal after meal. ButRead the whole post >>

Thomas Update

Don’t Leave Home Without This

As a busy and sometimes frazzled mom of littles, I may desire long blocks of time devoted to contemplative prayer, but life as it is right now is messy, noisy, and full of interruptions. Plus, I have the attention span of a housefly, which makes a contemplative prayer an even greater challenge, but I amRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
