Faith and Family LIVE! Cookie Swap

I live in a house full of cookie monsters, so I’m thrilled to be participating in the Faith and Family LIVE! Christmas Cookie Swap. Bloggers were invited to share their favorite recipe for cookies or other seasonal treats. We do a lot of baking around here. This Advent we’re cutting back on baking just becauseRead the whole post >>

Daddy On-Call Quiche

Daddy’s not a big fan of quiches, but my preschooler loves them. “When Daddy’s on-call again, can we have quiche?” she recently asked. And so we did. Fall Fun

Today marks the first day of fall. This is one of my favorite seasons. I’m a sweater-and-jeans-kind-of-girl (especially when I’m pregnant; warmer, cozy clothes are so much more conducive to a growing belly), so I’m always ready for the weather to cool off and for the green leaves to turn golden and crimson. Hi, I’m Kate

I’m a wife, mom of five kids, writer, speaker, storyteller, bibliophile, runner, eating disorder survivor, and perfectionist in recovery. I'm the author of Getting Past Perfect: Finding Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood  and Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body.

I’ve tried a lot of things in my life – anorexia, bulimia, law school, teaching aerobics, extended breastfeeding, vegetarianism, trying to be perfect and failing miserably at it – and through it all I’ve been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of my brokenness or my home’s sticky counters.

Nowadays I’m striving every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
