Little man eating; mama not sleeping

I took my little guy on a hot date this week. We left the rest of the gang at home under the expert tutelage of Daddy and had the pleasure of joining my parents and my brother and his wife for dinner at an Italian restaurant to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday. After we’d enjoyed goodRead the whole post >>

High Five

Dear Rachel, I’m not sure when it happened, but no one – not even Madeline – calls you Baby Rae any longer. I remember your birthday last year and how we still referred to you as this, and I wondered when you’d lose the “Baby.” Although you were losing some of the physical signsRead the whole post >>

Beloved

My husband and I recently celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary. In some ways, ten years seems like a long time – like forever ago. But in others, it seems like just yesterday that he was courting me, his tall frame making meRead the whole post >>

Whassup?

My little man has a habit of dangling his tongue out of his mouth when he’s happy. His mom has a habit of turning his happy, tongue-dangling moments into photo-ops. I thought about writing some further commentary here, but these pictures say it all. Whassup…..

A beautiful, ambitious friend of mine started an amazing online ministry called SHINE Girls that encourages women to savor the WordRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
