Dear Dad

My dad recently retired from a successful career in sales and marketing. It seemed fitting to share a letter I wrote to him as a part of our family retirement celebration this weekend. Happy Father’s Day to dads everywhere! Dear Dad, Whenever I sift through all of our times together, there’s one memory I alwaysRead the whole post >>

Princess Ballerina Party Details

I recently wrote a letter to my 4-year-old birthday girl, and we actually had her family party a little over a week ago, but I’m just getting around to sharing party details. When I told Rae we’d be having a little family birthday shindig and that she could pick a theme for it, she immediatelyRead the whole post >>

Hobbies, Help, & Homeschooling Discernment

I recently had the opportunity to chat with Lisa Hendey and Danielle Bean on the Faith & Family Podcast. I always look forward to these conversations because I walk away feeling empowered and encouraged. I learn so much from these wise, faithful women. I hope you will, too. On this particular episode we talked aboutRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
