Spring Chickens & Guac

Don’t let the intriguing title of this post fool you. There’s nothing thrilling about the content. Just a craft idea and a recipe for some delicious guacamole. If you’re a somewhat regular reader of my blog, you’ve probably gathered that I am not nearly as artsy as virtually every other mom a lot of momsRead the whole post >>

Celebrating the Easter Season with Children

The Easter season is one of my favorite times of year. Spring has lavished the trees and the earth with blossoms. Easter lavishes our souls with the hope of promises kept and new beginnings. Easter is also a season that lasts 50 days. That’s right – 50 days!  So don’t store those Easter decorations awayRead the whole post >>

Lent for Little Ones

My oldest daughter is only five, so I don’t expect her to draw up a long list of sacrifices. However, it’s my firm belief that even the smallest children can begin their journey to the cross with Jesus during Lent. Advent Smorgasbord

Life’s been incredibly busy, which explains the recent onslaught of photos (rather than words) of my kids that are incredibly interesting if you answer to the name of Grandma. Otherwise, not so much. Enjoy your food and family. I’ll be back in a few. And don’tRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
