Big Day, Big Thoughts

Today is a big day for our family. My mama arrived at Emory at 5 a.m. this morning for an angiogram and then will have a procedure that will hopefully successfully treat at least one of her brain aneurysms. My dad gave us an update and there’s another procedure before hers, so we won’t knowRead the whole post >>

The Subjectivity of Beauty

Welcome to Part II of my Hottie v. Healthy series: Beauty and sexiness are very subjective. (Part I can be found here.) Being a Hottie v. Being Healthy – Part I

There have been several posts related to weight and appearance circulating around the Catholic blogosphere in recent weeks. I’ve read all of them with interest because body image – the way we perceive how we look – is something that’s never far from my thoughts. I’ve made an effort to read each post as aRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
