{this moment} story time

{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you’re inspired to do the same, visit Soulemama to leave a link to your ‘moment’ in the comments for all toRead the whole post >>

All in the family

My oldest daughter is ready for some human cousins as evidenced by her recent observation: “You know, I really like kittens and puppies. I like dogs and cats,” Madeline said, “but it’s astonishing that all I have is furry cousins.” My sister-in-law and her husband have two wiry, little pups named Winston and Lelia, andRead the whole post >>

Randomness

I haven’t had the time or even really the desire to flesh out any great thoughts lately. So in a lieu of a more meaningful post, I’m just going to share some random glimpses into our life lately. My Most Recent Parental Epiphany

Rachel, 4, was recently playing quietly alone upstairs in the room she shares with her big sister. My husband and I were downstairs with Mary Elizabeth, 2. Madeline was over at a friend’s house. First Love

This one’s for you, D. (How wonderful it was to catch up with an old, true friend!) One of these days I’ll get back in the saddle again and join you for ride! — Several years ago Madeline (and Baby Rae when she really still was a baby) and I paid a visit to theRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
