Because I just need something to laugh about…

What do you get when you mix a house full of girls and a very patient canine companion? A fairy dogmother! When your kids won’t sleep, when your OCD rears its ugly head, when you try to be gracious and kind in light of your obsessiveness, when someone hurts you, when you feel like youRead the whole post >>

My Brain is Still Here; It’s Just a Little Slow

Last night I fell asleep putting my Rachel to sleep at about 8 pm. I didn’t wake up again until around 10ish when Thomas needed to nurse. I promptly fell asleep next to him. After a later noshing session (around 2:30 a.m.), I found myself wide awake. A random ticker tape of thoughts traveled throughRead the whole post >>

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
