Bits & Pieces

I didn’t really intend for my recent blogging fast to last as long as it did, but life just sort of swallowed me up and there was little free time to do much of anything, including blog. The break was good for me, but I’m not sure I reaped much spiritually, which was the point.Read the whole post >>

The Feast Before the Famine

The girls and I have a tradition of splurging on sundaes on Fat Tuesday. We obviously do not take this indulgence lightly. Yesterday’s binge Do not judge me. It was Fat Tuesday, so you’re supposed to eat fattening things, right? It was also my birthday. (Guess how old young I am!) Oh, and I’m fourRead the whole post >>

Opposites and Authors

I had the opportunity to chat with Danielle Bean and Lisa Hendey on the most recent Faith & Family Podcast. Resources for Lent

Subtitled: An Obnoxiously Long But Hopefully Somewhat Helpful Post It’s late this year, but somehow Lent is still sneaking up on me. Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
