Thomas’s Birth Story

The very early morning of August 28th, 2011 Around 2 a.m. I woke up restless. I was feeling crampy, but this was nothing new. Contractions had been coming and going for weeks. For anyone new to my blog, here’s a brief recap of my most recent pregnancy: I started bleeding early on and was afraidRead the whole post >>

{this moment} story time

{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you’re inspired to do the same, visit Soulemama to leave a link to your ‘moment’ in the comments for all toRead the whole post >>

This is exactly how I feel

Hi, I’m Kate

I'm the author of two nonfiction books Getting Past Perfect and Weightless, a storyteller*, overthinker, eating disorder survivor, mom of five, book junkie, socially awkward nerd as well as a speaker (so basically a walking and talking contradiction), and a perfectionist in recovery.

I am currently working towards my MFA in Fiction at Warren Wilson. Thank you to everyone who has read my drafts, offered feedback, and cheered me on. The writing life is often solitary, but I wouldn’t be here without a community of support.
